What to Expect at Your Physical Therapy Sessions
Your physical therapy journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation and continues with personalized treatment sessions.
Your First Visit (Initial Evaluation)
During your initial evaluation, your physical therapist will:
- Discuss Your Medical History: We'll ask detailed questions about your current condition, symptoms, pain levels, and how they impact your daily life. We'll also review your past medical history, medications, and any previous treatments.

Conduct a Thorough Physical Examination: This may involve assessing your:
- Strength: To identify muscle weakness.
- Flexibility and Range of Motion: To determine joint limitations.
- Balance and Coordination: To assess stability and movement control.
- Posture and Body Mechanics: To identify improper alignment and movement patterns.
- Gait Analysis: How you walk, if applicable.
- Special Tests: Specific movements or tests to help diagnose your condition.
- Establish Your Diagnosis and Goals: Based on the evaluation, your physical therapist will explain your diagnosis in clear, understandable terms. We will then collaborate with you to set realistic and achievable treatment goals that align with your personal needs and aspirations.
- Develop a Personalized Treatment Plan: You'll receive a customized treatment plan outlining the type, frequency, and duration of therapy, as well as specific exercises and interventions. In many cases, we'll begin treatment during this first session.
